Most of our toys are made from carefully selected materials, including FSC-certified wood, water-based paints, organic cotton and natural bamboo. Soft play pieces are designed with lightweight foam and durable, tactile fabrics. We choose materials that are practical for everyday play, easy to care for and made to withstand little knocks and plenty of adventures.

The 20 toy rule is a simple approach where a child keeps around twenty toys within easy reach and the rest are stored away, then rotated in over time. Fewer choices at once often means deeper, calmer play, and swapping toys in and out keeps them feeling fresh. Open-ended pieces like a wooden play kitchen or a foam play couch tend to earn their place because they suit many kinds of games.
Open-ended toys that can become many things tend to keep children absorbed the longest. A roleplay kitchen with turning knobs and velcro food, a play couch that shifts from sofa to fort, or a mud kitchen with a spinning water wheel all invite repeated, invented play rather than a single fixed use. Wooden toys are best wiped clean with a damp cloth and never soaked in water, which protects both the wood and its water-based paint finish. Because these pieces are hand-crafted and hand-painted, small variations in grain or colour are part of their character rather than faults.
Larger pieces such as the «Noisette» play kitchen, the «Igloo» climbing frame and the «Provence» mud kitchen arrive flat and need assembly, with the mud kitchen taking around 120 minutes to build. A few items call for extras that ship separately: the «Noisette» kitchen needs two AAA batteries for its light and sound, and the newborn Montessori kit's mobile is supplied without a stand. Standalone dollhouses like «La Parisienne» are sold without furniture or dolls, which can be ordered alongside them.
