At three, children love to copy the grown-ups around them and tell their own stories. Role-play gifts sit right at the heart of this. The wooden play kitchen XL «Noisette» comes with a nine-piece metal accessory set and gentle light and sound, ready for pretend breakfasts and busy café mornings. Dollhouses like the knights castle invite little hands to move figures through three levels, arrange furniture and act out whole adventures. For active play, the play sofas give energy somewhere to go indoors. Browse the wider collection of wooden toys to find a match for their current obsession.
These are gifts you'll be happy to keep. Play kitchens and dollhouses are made from durable materials and finished with water-based, child-friendly paints. Soft play pieces are designed for everyday building, climbing and imaginative play, with a comfortable foam core that keeps its shape through repeated use. Rounded shapes and warm, considered colours help every piece feel at home in a toddler's room rather than shouting for attention.
Most of our toys are designed from age 3, with a few pieces suited to younger and older children:
From 18 months–2 years: dollhouse dolls, tea sets and soft play blocks for early pretend play
From 3 years: play kitchens, dollhouses, kitchen accessories and role-play sets
For more inspiration across birthdays and milestones, explore our full selection of children's gifts or set up a whole space with the nursery collection.
Many of our role-play gifts arrive ready to play. The wooden play kitchen XL «Noisette» includes a nine-piece metal accessory set, and the knights castle dollhouse comes with a 17-piece furniture set plus two wooden figures and a horse. Each product page lists exactly what is in the box, so you know what's included before you buy.
Most of the larger items, such as play kitchens, dollhouses and the climbing frame, need adult assembly before play begins. It's a job for a grown-up rather than the child. Full instructions are supplied with each product, and the climbing frame also needs a non-slip mat and adult supervision during use.
The wooden play kitchen XL «Noisette» has a light and sound function that runs on 2×AAA batteries, which are not included in the box. Its interactive extras are the exception in our range; other play kitchens and accessory sets rely on hands-on, screen-free play with no electronics.
Most of our toys are designed from age 3, as some contain small parts. A younger sibling should not use them unsupervised. If you're shopping for a little one under three, look to our dollhouse dolls, tea sets and soft play blocks, which suit ages 18 months and up. The stated minimum age appears on every product page.
